Time Slip comparison

In april, I was making 1/8th mile passes at 8.9 at 83. I had no consistency with those passes. None. I would run a best of an 8.9 or totally flub a launch and go one second slower. And everything inbetween...

Last night, I was consistently making passes at 8.7 at 86. This was at the same track and similar conditions. Between last night and april, i have changed just 2 things on the car. First, I removed the delay in the CDV. Second, I have a new wheel and tire combo. The april passes were on 18" 162s. 235 / 255 RE050A RFT. Now, I'm on 19" Morr VS7s. 245 / 275 Michelin PS2. It's a weight savings of 9 lbs per corner. And the 19" combo is a larger circumfrence.

Could these 2 changes, one free and the other way expensive, account for two tenths and 3 mph?

Edit: I forgot... i had a 50/50 race gas, pump gas mix last night too. oops.

How do you like the 245 275 combo? Most with vs7's have the 235/265. I am getting my vs8's soon(I hope) and am just curious about these two sizes.

I picked up the wheel and tire combo 2nd hand and I love it. I don't have any issues with the width that I know of. It looks great too. The car looks like it is lowered because of the increase in wheel diameter. The gap I mean, not the body relative to the ground. And, for the wheel, it *looks* like I could go one size wider. But, I don't know if there would be clearance issues in the wheel wells. I don't know what the widths would be like with something other than the PS2s.

I have put a few angry miles on the set since I put them on a few weeks ago. 1/8th mile and back roads. I'm planning on taking them off mainly for fun but also to inspect them. If I see no signs of rubbing, I'm sure I'll replace the tires with exactly what I have on them now. For the future, I'm considering 1/2" lower ride height on all corners. I doubt thats a good idea but we'll see.

Thanks for the reply. I will take a closer look into that sizing.

wheels off... no sign of any rubs anywhere. Wheels are a biotch to clean. At least they're light.

Back on topic... a friend was telling me that change wheel circumfrence effectively changes your final drive ratio. Also, what are you guys doing to get a 60ft around 1.9 with street tires?

I do this...... Drive around the water. Back up, but not into the water. Powerbrake as high RPM as possible and burn out to stage. Powerbrake at stage, M1, all traction control off, rpm's somewhere between 1500 and 1900, depends on track/conditions/tune. Try to find the highest rpm with powerbrake and no wheelspin. Any wheelspin will lower your 60' and ET. It is not that easy to perfect, but it can be done. Practice.

Im running PS2s... 245 275. I recall saying there was no rubbing. Well, I'm getting a rub on the front when pushing hard. Very minimal. but there is definetly plastic missing from inside the wheel well. I think the 245 may be the culprit. I think next set of fronts will be 235.

Just wanted to let you know,
