The Tesla was hacked a while ago now and the hacker could control the vehicle. The hackers raised it with Tesla and it was fixed.

However I'm not very eager with vehicles being "connected" all the time, which will allow them to be remotely hacked more easily than current vehicles.

First, I find it heartwarming that those altruistic Chineese have decided to probe software vulnerabilities in the broad array of consumer electronics - surely this year-long effort, and the lab supporting it, is entirely for the purpose of sending out these warnings, and making us all safer from evildoers and those who hate America. I wonder if they are sharing info with the Russian 'security lab'?

And second, WTF does this actually mean: "This would eventually allow miscreants to take complete control over the operation of the affected vehicle to some extent." More qualifiers here than in the fine print on insurance. For now I'm not sweating that somebody might send me a false error code or reprogram my radio stations, unless dealerships start using 'fake CEL' like a certain somebody does w/ 'fake news'.

I like technology and toys as much as the next guy but sometimes no one stops to reflect on the dark side of how it can be used against anyone at anytime. Our cars are nothing but rolling computers with 4 wheels...
