small M badge on front fenders template?
I've got a US model M Sport 540 and want to put the small M badges on the front fenders (no...not trying to be an M car...as most of you know, it's what's on the Euro models that are specced with the M package.) I just like how it looks. But I want them to be in the exact same location as the factory would place them.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can achieve this? A template? Or someone with a Euro (UK maybe too?) can measure theirs for me? Thanks for the help! |

Thanks! Very helpful thread there. Though I am so OCD...I wish I had the exact measurements. And it's funny, and maybe just me, but if it's slightly off from where the factory places them, it looks fake. There was one pic in that thread where the person did it and I can tell they're slightly off.....not sure how the hell I can tell, but I feel like I can. But the pic does help, so thanks.

i actually got the exact measurement form my bussy in europe they do indeed use a hold over template when placing them that lines up with the horizontal and vertical door seems and also includes a cut out locator for there side air vent...
i will find the measurement =s fro you as i believes its 8.5 inches forward of the door seam and 8 " up from highest point of the side air vent... you can see my placement in my post non the bluestone thread under builds here on bimmerfest. |

I will try to get pics. this is what i got: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Gloss-Bl...72.m2749.l2649
I also saw this for $12, but looks matte black: https://www.amazon.com/Black-Color-F...a-568525478147 - just noticed that the amazon one is for 1 badge, not two, ebay is a better deal Now, I got them yesterday, they looked great. And they came in packaging that had the BMW logo and the part number on it - I threw out the packaging or I'd take pic. From my experience buying OEM parts, they "looked" like real BMW language/logo/part #. Could all of that have been fake? of course and probably if you say they don't make them in gloss black. But for what they are, I don't care. They look great on my black car as they're understated in black vs. chrome. Just adds a little flair... so glad someone posted that template! small M badge on front fenders template?
I could be totally wrong on BMW not making the gloss black emblem. Since it had the part number, should be OEM.
I'm really happy also that someone put up a template of exactly where they should be placed. I wouldn't want the location to be off even by a little. Thanks for the link, the gloss black looks really good on eBay!! |

I'm betting they're knockoffs, even with the "packaging" - I forget what else I've gotten lately but it also came in BMW packaging and is NOT OEM. China... but I knew this going in, I was just surprised by the packaging.
