Going to LA for first time. Any suggestions?

Leaving today for LA. Never been to the west coast. Anyone have any good recommendations (eat, bars, attractions, etc)? Thanks.

Petersen Automotive Museum is a must visit. The guided tour of The Vault is a must.

well, that kind of depends how old you are and what you like to do? For bars and food we pretty much stuck with the venice and santa monica spots, but we were in our early 30s when we lived there

The obligatory tourist spots are the observatory, tar pits, being hustled looking at the stars, having people try to sell you their mixtapes on venice, trying to get within a mile of the Hollywood sign without being yelled at by residents, etc, I'd avoid downtown unless it's been gentrified in the last 5 years

the highlights of living in LA for me were when we got to drive out of the city and up the coast, it should be really nice this time of year

Definitely cruise down to Venice Beach and walk the Strand.
Take a nice drive up PCH north and have lunch at Neptune's Net.

I went there for work a couple of times a few years ago and I have to say, to me, Venice beach was just nasty, the place and the people.

It depends what you like to do or what you have in mind. LA is filled with tons of things to do, but it is so spread out.

Traffic is going at all times of the day so if you plan something to do, try and do something else after that near by it since you'll have to be stuck in traffic going home. In other words, be efficient.

- Petersen Automotive Museum is a good recommendation.
- The beaches would be something that almost always come up, Venice (not as many tourists, but still has plenty) or Santa Monica Pier (very crowded- if you want to be around tourists then this is your spot lol). The more south you go, the less crowded in terms of tourists (i.e. Manhattan Beach is excellent)
- La Brea Tar Pits
- OUE Skyspace LA Observation Deck *new attraction in the last year or two* (observation deck near the top of the US Bank tower- 3rd tallest building west of the Mississippi River)
*I was just there Tuesday and took some pictures, it was incredible, I'll see if I can post one to give you an idea.
- Griffith Observatory
- The Getty
- Hollywood Sign Hike
- Walk Of Stars
- Rodeo Drive if you like shopping and things of that nature
- Beverly Hills (drive around and see some of the historic mansions)
- Malibu (the view once you get there is beautiful and the drive can be scenic with windy roads)
- Tons of restaurants if you're a foody

There are tons of other things, but it's a quick list. If you have specific questions or certain things you're looking to do then shoot me a PM.

EDIT: Heres a picture from the Skyspace Deck

Bro you can't be serious, Venice beach is a sh*thole.

OP, I'd also recommend steering clear of the Hollywood tourist traps. It's disgusting and not worth the visit if you are time-conscious.

Go hit up various car meets (Supercar Sunday in Topanga, C&C Aliso Viejo, etc.). Always a good turnout at those events.

You should Rent a M from Turo, and do this.

Most fun you can have with M car besides the track, Decker Canyon is a blast or try the snake. Neptunes is great
