summer job for a college student?
Hey what's up guys I'm back in the bay for the summer and unemployed. I'm broke as hell and we all know what that means: no money no play. Any recommendations? Anyone have hookups? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys

Not many places to work only for the summer unfortunately unless it's for summer camp for little kids. But with those jobs, you have to apply pretty early..usually 1-2 months before summer. All you do is play with kids and make sure they don't fight each other, get $10-13 an hour.

Self employed job would be the best bet..like detailing like Spec does, or mow lawns and such. Seems kiddy-ish, but if you're really hungry for cash, then go for it.
I think if you charge $10 per car for a wash, you will probably get a decent amount. Just go door to doort and wash the cars of your neighbors in their driveways. Retail places won't hire you because you're going to quit by the end of the summer. It takes around a month for a new employee to be up to speed on how to do all transactions, so that means you'll be working there for around a month after you're fully trained. I worked at Circuit City for 2 years right after HS and I wanted a summer job to keep me busy last summer, and they didn't even hire me back, lol. Even though I remember how to do everything and still had my uniforms and such. |

My neighbors see me detail every weekend and ask me how much it was a detail. I give them my pricing and go about my business. So then one weekend one of my neighbors walks up to me and starts conversing. He starts talking about how some environmental/city law states you can't have chemicals and waste flowing into the storm drains. Then he asks me what I could do for him for $200. I gave him a very weird look and changed the subject. Some neighbors are just assholes so be careful. |

I worked at Expressmen and Footlocker when I was in HS...but that wasn't enough to cover my gas money I just did it for the discount and for the hell of it. Now, I need something that pays more so I can save up to study abroad and travel.

The only problem is that your relationship will end in a bad way. So when you apply for future jobs, you may be hesitant to say yes you can contact that employer and ask about me. You have to look in the long run in life instead of a quick buck today. Pretty much the reason I turned down a $15/hour job..which I thought was damn good when I was 20 yrs old.
AOshicanz-I feel you on that. I usually wash 3 cars every weekend..my car, my moms, and my step dads. I live in a very large private community and one day an old lady drove by and started yelling at me. I didn't see her at first and I had my iPod on so it appeared as if I was avoiding her, she went even more NUTS. She got out the car and started jumping around. She was bickering about how my unit is using so much water to wash these cars. While she is the crazy ass lady who waters her garden every couple of hours. I told her to take it up to management if she really wants a war, haven't heard from her since. She doesn't even look at me in the eyes anymore when I see her drive by, lol. |

true, when i worked at a restaurant i was too young to be a waiter, (i guess you have to be 18 or older in order to serve alcohol to a table) so i worked as a runner. i don't know if every restaurant has this position, the job description is to run food to the tables to take some of the pressure off of the waiters, i also put together the to-go orders (yep, chinese place). as stated earlier, the pay hourly was average, the only difference was that i got 10% of the waiters' tips.
