BMW Engine Specialist to Become Next Audi CEO

Volkswagen announced Tuesday that Markus Duesmann, an engine development expert from BMW, will join the its Board of Management, but made no mention of Audi.

A report from Automobilewoche, though, claims that Duesmann is being tapped for the CEO position that Rupert Stadler left vacant at Audi.

Stadler left his position when he was arrested in June. He was temporarily replaced by Abraham Schot, a sales executive from within the company.

The health of Audi is an important matter, since it is among the Group’s biggest profit centers.

Duesmann will become the second major figure in the Volkswagen to be poached from BMW, as Herbert Diess, who became CEO of the Volkswagen Group in April, also defected from the Bavarian brand.

Just when Duesmann will leave BMW and actually start work in Ingolstadt remains to be seen, but the VW Group has promised that it will happen “as soon as he is able to do so.”

Audi / the VW Group needs all the help they can get! Maybe someone will finally get the VW Group to be more customer-oriented and not apparently screwing over their customers when their products have major problems / defects and they refuse to recall / defect under warranty.

Personally, i'd avoid the VW Group. This is from personal experience and others too.

Depends on dealer, I guess. Myself and family members have/had VAG products without any issues. My sisters 09 650i Coupe had to go in for a transmission replacement twice. Still stayed with the brand until leases went to hell.

Thanks and usually it is local dealer and would agree. Alas, this dealing with with the VW Group corporate, talked politely to head of Bentley about the widely known defects, about being a two-time consumer of their luxury Bentley products... they don't care imho.

BTW, look at the massive devaluation of Bentley cars on the secondhand marlet. That says quite a bit about their 'value' in the marketplace.

Every manufacturer has their issues. BMW has had rod bearing problems on M cars. My sisters 2009 650i Coupe had TWO transmission replacements. I didn't tell people to avoid everything BMW. My moms 2013 X5 had electrical issues.

Nobody is perfect.
