Windshield coating.
Hi all. My M5C arrives the first week of October. Already set up to get Xpel and Ceramic Pro installed that week.
Just wondering what people are using for a windshield coating? I always used Awuapel on my previous cars and trucks. I think Ceramic Pro makes a glass coating. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I just had my M5 Xpel, with matte finish. Had them put extra under the panel behind the rear wheel.
Did Xpel clear on the grill, headlights, roof, door jams, roof rails and black window panels. I talked to them about windshield. There are good and bad points. Bad points were that you have to clean your wipers often, any dirt can scratch the film. I didn't get that done. I didn't do Ceramic. My shop doesn't believe in it. |

Also about the windshield, I didn't mean to wrap it in clear. I meant some kind of liquid application like Rain-X, Aqupel or Ceramic Pro.

i put a coating on my windshield but it was a giant pain in the ass. id recommend using something less permanent like rain-x.. id imagine its costly if you don't do it yourself and id recommend against doing it at all. I've put coatings on cars many times but doing glass is more difficult and the results are not substantially different as compared to things like rain-x. yeah you might have to put rain-x on more frequently but its much easier to work with.

Aqupel works very good for 4-5 months. But you HAVE to super clean the windshield. Clean it multiple times with Invisible glass. Then again with hot water then again with straight 99% isopropyl. Aqupel has to be applied on a perfectly clean windshield and then in an up and down motion, not across. It works great when done right. Just wondering if there are some others on the market to look at.

I have glass insurance and typically pick up a rock chip every 2-3 years. So I get a new glass with $500 deductible. Maybe more simple and cheaper than all the coatings.

I should've specified that I'm referring to a window coating to bead water off more so than a wrap to protect the windshield
