E92 335is or F32 435i - Help me choose!
Hello everyone! This is my first post on BimmerPost, and I'm requesting help deciding on my next car!
I'm coming from a 2011 E90 328i, and I'm looking for a minor (major haha) upgrade. I wanted an M3/4, but I decided to wait on that for a while. Right now I'm stuck choosing from either a 335is or a 435i. Both look really good aesthetically and are also really good in performance. If you guys could give me advice on which to choose I would really appreciate it! Thanks again. |

Just get an M3. Life is short. Don't wait for tomorrow. F80 M3s are getting cheap. $30-40k range now for a clean used one now...

You need to drive all 3 cars and then you’ll know. Seems like you would already have a good idea what the 335is driving experience would be like since you owned a e90

First of all, welcome.
Now, it looks like you already answered your own question when you said you wanted an M3/M4. Now two things can happen from this fork in the road: 1) You get a 335is/435i. Months or years down the road, you're back in the same situation. The _35i was great but you still have your M craving unsatisfied. or... 2) You get an M3 of your liking (several generations to choose from at your price-point) in the used market and you enjoy. No regrets, nothing unrealized, no remorse. So what exactly are you waiting for? Get the damn M3!

On your original request, you really need to decide whether you want a 2 door or 4 door car.
If you have kids, go for the 335is. Otherwise get the 435i. |

Actually the 335is (emphasis on the "s" suffix) was a special performance model that came in two-door coupe (E92) body-style only. Incidentally, the 435i has a Gran Coupe variant, so I'd say as far as body-style is concerned, it should be the other way around (kids = 4GC, no kids = E92 or F32). But I digress because an M3/4 is a solid choice given what the OP has been implying (wanting an M).

I agree on the M3/M4 decision. But you should get an insurance quote first. Most insurance companies charge considerately more for an M car vs a 3 or 4 series. I even have has some companies tell me that they won't insure M cars. |

M cars are considered "safe" cars by insurance standards. Obviously driving record is very important alongside what car..

Thank you all!
I really didn't expect that many replies on this post I really do appreciate all of the recommendations and help so far! I don't plan to get the car for another 6-10 months from now (hopefully prices go down more haha). But I really want an M3/M4 and it isn't too far from my price range!

If you really have to choose between a 335is and a 435i i would go for the 335is all the way. It handle better, it steer better, the brake feel is better, it sound nicer and I think it look nicer too.

Drive all three in a variety of scenarios at least an hour each and choose which makes you happiest. If you plan to keep the car a while and can afford it sometimes its better to just have no regrets. As long you can still put food on the table and live life/fill up you're good.
