Any way to know for sure if my diff is bolted or welded?

Car is an 03/07. I know that's when they changed to welded. Most parts on it are dated around the end of February. Did the part number on the diff change at all ? I found a diff from a 12/06 car for 300$... worth it ?

Check on Bmw real oem, all part number and date changes are there. or just pull the rear cover and see how the crown wheel is attached.
