Question Spare wheel.

So... if you go with aftermarket rims and non-RFT, what do you carry for emergency?

Can my G01 hold a compact spare wheel under the trunk floor?

Edit: got the answer about 3" higher floor option from the factory is not possible to be retrofitted.
I guess a pump and sealant is my next option.

It can be retrofitted if you do a swap with someone else who wants to go from spare > no spare.

See this:https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...A09B&FORM=VIRE

The spare tire fits in the boot but it has a cover over it that raises the floor 3.5 inches. You lose about 2.7 cubic feet of space and it looks somewhat odd.

A trunk swap is definitely possible, even by the dealer or a shop. My dealer swapped out a trunk with the spare wheel option to one without. All parts came directly from BMW.

I purchased my car with the OEM non-RFT tyre option but no spare wheel so I guess I will be relying on the inflation kit or a recovery truck.

I was browsing BavAuto today to see what they had for our cars and noticed a spare-tire kit was available, but it doesn't have all the pieces needed for a full conversion.

If you lived by me I'd gladly swap my spare kit for the regular trunk set up

That's a ridiculous amount of money -- bet you can do better sourcing some of the parts on your own and go with generic items for jack, wrench, etc.

I have the space-saver spare option too, but thanks! I just thought that info might be useful for OP or anyone who wants to retrofit a spare. I agree with skier219 about the price though.

I've been looking into this for a while, I just bought an inexpensive 20" wheel and mounted one of my original front tires (245/50/R20) on it. I swapped the original tires for A/S ones, but need to keep them anyway for lease return. Note that a 20" full-size wheel takes up most of the trunk space, I only carry it when driving through remote areas.

If you want to build the OEM spare tire:
The spare tire - $116 from tirerack https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...8TEMP&i1_Qty=1

Alternatively the spare tire is sold by getbmwparts as well ($132) - https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...18-36112210357

The wheel itself - $209 - https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...-1-36116863416

Valve - $4 - https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...em-36121116326

Total will easily end up around $350 including shipping.

Hi Legis.
Do you recall the cost? Is the same large lid used, so it's the trim pieces arounf the edges / underneath etc that need changing?
Thanks
