Aggressive start up !

Hi all,I have an '18 LCI ( DCT ) and have it had from new,has anyone else noticed that on times when starting the car ( in Sport mode ) that it aggressively revs the car and makes you look like you're "showing off" and a bit of a c*ck !
It seems mainly to happen when you've used the car on a short journey from cold, stopped the car to say nip into a shop then restart it,then vrooommm !! ( seems to do it when it's not fully up to temp ) love the character of this car.

In my experience, the warmer the car the louder the start up. I love it.

It's not so much of the loudness more of the revs,it shoots up to 2000 rpm !

Normal behavior that seemingly happens at random. I love it but I agree it can make you look like a show off / dickhead at times.

Also like Stage IV said, if you think it's bad stock then don't add a sportcat/downpipe. My cold starts could wake up the dead.

Yes if the car is slightly warmed up from being on for a few minutes, then turned off, then turned on again it really roars when you start it!

Sounds great IMO.

I used to have that problem too. I fixed it by building a motorcycle that's 10x louder at startup than the car. Now my M2, even with sport DP, is "the quiet" one as far as my neighbors are concerned.

Maybe I'm missing it...but I'm not seeing the problem here.

Start Sequence =

1. push red start button once
2. double tap Sport mode button to get to Sport+
3. double tap MPE controller to open flaps
4. lower both windows
5. depress clutch
6. hit that beauty red button again and...ENJOY!
7. lower sunglasses so as not to have to make direct eye contact with grumpy neighbor as you pull away

I take it this is a different behavior from the warmup cycle for the catalytic?

OP is describing the initial start-up "bark" that occurs right when you push the start-up button.

Ahhh understood.....love when it does it...although the garage sure doesn't help quiet down the ruckus in the morning haha.

The start up blip was one of the things that first enamored me to the car. It's just so damn cool. But yeah, you're right. I have had a few weird looks...especially in the local "natural" grocery store I frequent (that's usually filled with hybrids or early 90's subaru wagons).

Don't think there is any difference between comfort/sport/sport + with MPE. The change only comes from opening the exhaust flaps with the Bluetooth remote.
