I took a turn really fast and my car revved...it's an automatic
I took a hard right turn getting off the freeway and heard my engine rev. I was in normal "D" mode but either I've never driven this car hard like that before or I've never noticed it before. Is my car broken or is this a safety feature? DSC is on.
Thanks

How high did the engine rev? Was it a redline type of rev or more like a downshift?

I've felt something similar like this too in my RWD 328i auto. Happens especially on uphills and downhills. Happened more often after I installed the BMS PBX. I guess it's the computer downshifting to keep you in a lower gear for max acceleration. Keep in mind these transmissions learn and adapt to your driving style.

did the engine rev and you went faster, or did the engine rev and you didn't accelerate?
one is normal, one is your transmission slipping. if slipping, check fluid level first. Especially if it happens during an aggressive turn, the pickup may have become exposed, pump sucked air, you lost line pressure, clutches slipped. that will damage a transmission if you allow it to happen. |

Even though stability control was on, you can still get wheelspin and high RPMs. Once the DSC senses the loss of traction it will use the ABS to control the wheelspin (and you get the flashing yellow traction light).
I think you lost traction on the hard right (not uncommon) and the RPMs went up until either you regained traction or stability control used the ABS to stop the wheelspin.

no, it just doesn't have a dipstick.
there are fill/drain plugs. 335's have a ZF transmission that requires a new pan to change the filter. change the pan/filter and fill it with new fluid. then after a day drain and fill it again. that will get 80% of the old fluid out. https://www.rmeuropean.com/bmw-e90-3...id-change.aspx you may want to service the mechatronic seal while you're there as well. |

Reset your throttle.
-Car off -Key in slot -No foot on brake, turn car on until dash lights up/aircon starts -put throttle all the way to the floor, until you feel it pressing the button -hold for 30 seconds -let throttle off, ignition off, key out -wait two minutes then start the car Should fix issues like this happening, sounds like your transmission just had a wonky downshift from the signals your throttle was sending to it.

I just reset it a couple of hours ago. I'll be driving the car tomorrow since it's past midnight right now.

It did the trick for me! My shifting is much smoother even when it's cold. Thanks Fritzer

So I take it the throttle reset fixed your issues? Great little trick to freshen up the throttle, especially after it learns "driving habits" in a couple days of bad traffic.

Yes, your steps to reset throttle worked well. Shifting is much smoother.

So I just tried to do the same thing and this time I actually committed to throttling around the turn and guess what? It revved up until I lifted without acceleration! I can't believe this. My car has 75k miles on it, never been modded, etc. I'm beginning to think it's slipping.
Checking the fluid tomorrow.

UPDATE: I've replaced the transmission pan/filter, gasket, new fluid - 8qt Mercon SP, mechatronic plastics like sleeve adapter, and few more plastics sandwiched behind the mechatronic unit.
All of my shifting issues have gone away. Nothing but smooth shifting.
