OK, but I think the whole purpose of M wheel is those thumbrests.

The center portion of the M Sport wheel is a slightly different shape than the standard sport wheel. When you have the M steering wheel with the standard sport cover (like I do) there is a small gap on the lower left and right edges on the back of the cover. These aren't visible, which is why I'm in no rush to buy the M cover (haven't ruled it out, though). Conversely, if you switch to the M cover and keep the standard sport wheel, there would be a gap on the lower left and right side that would face the driver.

In short - don't do it. It would look cheesy.
