Activation of BMW Assist
I got a notice that I have to activate BMW assist within a few weeks after my car was delivered.. However I did a European Delivery and my car was delivered in Europe. Does that mean I have to do it within 6 weeks of delivery, or 6 weeks within redelivery? If it is 6 weeks within ED, then that means I might potentially have to do it before I receive the car here in the states right?

I think you can do it anytime after you receive your car. All they do is confirm your information on the car and tell you some information about it. You don't have much to worry at this point. I don't think you need to do it before you receive your car but it doesn't hurt to ask
How was the ED?

you should have some sort of paperwork that has your generated password on it, at least thats what i got. push the SOS button and they will talk you through it. if all else fails just call up your CA.

You activate it when you take re-delivery stateside. Your dealer should activate it when she goes over the car with you.

Make sure that you have them activate BMW Assist for a full year from the day you activate (which should be your redelivery day).
The way their computers work, they will inadvertently calculate it from your delivery date and you need to point this out. When you get the stolen vehicle recovery form, check the expiry date. Mine was off by over a month (it wasn´t based on the factory delivery date either) and they fixed it and sent me a new certificate without any fuss.

I never activated it. Still, when I use it (3 times already), somehow, they knew. I guess when we use it, the car owner's information is also sent to them or it's just activated at the dealer by the dealer after the car's sold.

i think he means dont let them screw you out of a month or 2 of your free year. if you did ED make sure the Assist begins on the day you take redelivery rather than on the day that you took delivery in germany.
