I, too, had the dealer do the hardwire install for my V1 in my F15 to avoid any possible warranty traps.
However, driving an X5 at 10+PSL means for me turning to the Uniden R3 as my primary detector with support from the V1. I have a Max 360 in my wife's car and previously used the Escort Redline. Of course apps like Waze and Escort Live are critical tools.

Well I went to do the hardwire and it looks like there’s no fuse box up front like in the f15. It’s a pain to run it all the way back.
So I tried removing the trim for a mirror tap. That came off fairly easy but it’s not as simple as the f15. The plugs are right there. Turns out my mirror tap cord is broken so I’ll attempt again in a week. |

Can you post a pic of the mirror tap install. Just curious to see where the clips are to be careful when removing the dome light assempbly. Also if you care to share the plug and wire colors you tapped into, that'd be awesome! Thanks in advance!!!

Anyone devise viable solutions for the V1 and G05?

Are you installing just the V1 itself or also the BT dongle known as V1 connector?

I like the fact that the V1Driver app sends alerts to my Apple Watch. So if someone is with me who does not want to hear alerts, I can turn off the audio and look at the arrows while getting vibrations on my iW4C. In any event, using the mirror tap becomes more of a challenge when adding the BT dongle but I appreciate you keeping us informed of your progress.

Well, that didn’t work. I got the tap in and it powered up the V1 but I must’ve done something wrong bc now the V1 doesnt work and the front dome lights wont either. Oh well, I guess Ill fuse tap way in the back at some point.

My dealer did the hardwire install this morning for my V1. I will try to post a photo later to show the blendmount under the rear-view mirror.
They did not do a mirror tap because I use the V1 dongle. I asked if they got power through the back of the glove box and I thought he said they went all the way to the fuse box. I waited there just short of 1.5 hours.

I also started a thread at RDF: https://www.rdforum.org/index.php?threads/82550/ Some of the suggestions in the RDF might work for others. The fundamental mistake I made was not testing the V1 prior to the hardwire install. Due to foot surgery, I have not spent much time in the G05 and when only the R3 plug worked I just failed to use an extension power cord from the back power plug to see what would happen. I have previously been able to neutralize X5's BSM but my G05 is loaded. After neutralizing laser alerts on my V1, I am seeking a solution to LEO lidar and at this point do not want to invest in ALPs that are illegal in OK.
