Lock chirp/honk

Hi guys, I looked around for some info but couldn’t really find a clear answer.

Is it possible to have the X3 make a sound (beep, honk) when the lock button is pressed? Had an X3 for a test drive for a day once and could not find it in iDrive.

Merc we have now sounds the horn softly when the doors are successfully locked. When a door isn’t shut properly, it’ll stay silent to let you know it couldn’t lock. My driveway leads from a little pathway to my back yard/door and as such i can’t see the car from my house so it would be nice to have the audible feedback when you’ve just unloaded a bunch of groceries into the kitchen and want to check the car is locked without walking back.

If there is no such option, I guess the connecteddrive app would do the trick to tell me if it’s locked? We did not order the display key.

Best regards,

Matt

Yes, the connected app on your phone will tell you if the doors are locked, windows closed and so on. You can also lock the car from your phone with the connected app.

Are you sure this isn't in idrive? I'm 99.9% certain there's an option for an audible beep. When I lock/unlock my car, I hear a beep and my lights flash momentarily. Had this on all my past bmw's

My Vehicle>Vehicle Settings>Doors>Acoustic lock/unlock

What might throw some off is that it's not under "iDrive Settings", which predominantly covers the in-car infotainment/UI stuff.

My car taught me this a couple of weeks ago or it tried to but I was too stupid to understand.

It was a freezing cold and windy morning. I live in Texas so I'm not use to that. I had to run up to an account that morning and I pulled up, found my parking space away from other cars, jumped out and it the door handle lock. It honked at me twice, I thought "that's weird, where is the chirp", I hit the lock again and same honk, I said to myself "stupid smart cars".

I ran into my account and spent about 40 minutes in there and then headed back to my car. When I got to my car, I was like "what is that sound". yep, it was still running and it was warning me that it was on while I was trying to lock it.

I did this last month and got jolted by honks instead of silent flashes. Just replace “my account” with “kid’s pre-school” and 40 minutes with 5.
