For me rap died when rappers stopped wearing big clocks around their necks

Agreed, I actually listen to it on iTunes on occasion because it’s like listening to comedy skit it’s so bad. No lyrical talent, no good flow and pathetic beats. Where are the days when we had Ice Cube, Eminem, Dre, Easy, Big and Pac. Those were the days when you looked forward to every new album. Now I could care less about rap. My IPod is filled with all old rap and haven’t loaded a single newer album in a long time because it truly is GARBAGE.

They play this shit at my gym sometimes. I rarely take my headphones off but when I do I immediately cringe. It's also hard to tell when one song ends and another one begins because the vocal delivery and beats are so alike. Oh anybody who uses autotune through out their whole song should be shot.

I stand by 07/08 being the death of rap.

It has come back into mainstream popularity since then but objectively speaking it's garbage. Mumble is fun when you are drunk and partying but serves no other purpose to me. The worst is people who argue it is superior to "old rap" and give a blank stare when you mention the likes of Nas.

I have a buddy who is a DJ who gets really heated when people criticize Mumble lol. Makes sense as it goes hand in hand with partying.

Lol not very accurate, rap evolved, just cuz its not what you older people like, that doesn't mean its bad. there are still some rappers out there that are lyrically talented, its just the beats and auto tune that evolved..

im not talking about mumble rappers

to each his own, i grew up with eminem as my fav lyricist, things change..

Haha yes this is gold...

The only current rapper that I like that is mainstream is Future (and even he knows he makes bullshit) but its good to relax to every once in a while and party 2. The days of quality rap being mainstream are long over... I think people like Kendrick which are highly successful in their own right will always be a niche as opposed to main stream; I appreciate quality rap and I don't even think he is that good.

This is the the type of shit I'm talking about. Rap mix that makes you want to hit the gym and go all out Spartacus.

This beat should be blasting on PI when the recruits get their first introduction to their drill instructors.

He's one of my fav..

I grew up with Lil Wayne right after Eminem.. and Wayne is who made these new rappers...

It was Wayne > Future/Young Thug > rest of rappers now a days.

You're describing heavy metal or industrial metal to me. Or like hard rock/hardcore. That's my jelly right there.

This.

Drake
Kendrick Lamar
Childish Gambino
J Cole
Joyner Lucas
Migos
Travis Scott
Chance the Rapper
Rae Sremmurd
Future
Big Sean
Vic Mensa
Gucci Mane
Juice WRLD

I grew up to 90s rap (Nas, 2pac, Biggie, Bone Thugs, Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, DMX, and so on). With the exception of a few classic hits, if I had to pick one artist to listen to forever, I would pick Drake's entire catalog over everyone.

You are so right. Maybe, I just haven`t listen to NORMAL modern rap. But if it exists, why is it so difficult to find?
