E46 M3 CSL, the best M ever made!
Never liked the SMG, probably the only weak point with this legend of a car, from the golden area of BMW.
Funny that Cosworth build VAG this engine 😂

As much as I obsess over the E46 CSL, I nearly share the same obsession for the RS4, especially an avant ! With that being said...

Two different animals. I would never dare to compare the two as they are both so amazing in their own respective character.

Oh and... real world scenario, an E46M would need a blower to keep up with ANY tuned B5 in some straight runs.

That RS4 def had a boost leak somewhere

No doubt the CSL is a nice car but man does it sound like shit. A Civic with a big fart can sounds better.

Indeed ! I've had 2 B5 S4's that were built by EPL and used the same KO4 turbos as that RS4 and on pump they're at about 400 whp. Regardless...both cars are iconic but agree with others...should not be compared.

Sorry but I never thought it sounded good. and I've owned one.

With the CF intake on a track car yes- perhaps- but certainly not stock. ... barf: I hated the tinny raspy sound.

edit: listened to the video and the revving at the line drives me crazy. ugh.. that's all I need to see.. I have no idea why a 2 door coupe and a 5 door wagon are being matched up anyway.....

I get that opinions are opinions, everyone's will differ, but it sounds so good. How can you not like it!

But I do agree that it's not really a comparison that needed to be made, but it was an interesting watch anyway, and I think that's all they're really going for.

BMW screwed pooch saddling the CSL with that sht gearbox. If it had the normal manual shifter, this car would be valued at 964 RS prices.

People complain about the S55 sounding bad? E46 is by far the worst ever in the M lineup.

Looks wise, 2nd best looking behind the M4. Timeless and the right size inside.

Because BMW didn't make a M wagon or Audi didn't have their RS5 back in the days? both are iconic cars from the same era, thats why they put them together, I am sure have an idea and see that.
Unlike nowadays you can get any variant of car from any makers.
