M240i Brakes
Is it just me,
I dont think the brakes are good enough, does anybody else feel the same? on the main site I see there are plenty who have gone to a different pad, frankly I am seriously considering doing the same. i just dont get a good feel from them, in fact i think the pedal feels spongy, but after a visit to the dealer, and a service i am told they are 'all good' thoughts? |

With out details on how your driving.
When my 235 was new I though the brakes were kind of weak, I don't really recall what I was doing that made me feel that way. Though, now at 30,000 miles on original brakes I find the brakes very good on the road and under some hard repeated stops. I'm on Michelin A/S3's but when I had the summer tire I do think the tire needed a bit of heat (road surface) in them to perform best under braking. |

I currently have the Pirelli run flats so I don't think it's tire related IMO. Before ordering a 19' M240i I test drove one. To me the brakes felt exactly the same as my M235i pre pads/rotors. I chalked it up to the brakes not being broken in yet but I'll know for sure once my M240 is delivered.

Both my M240i's work very hard for a living, as did their M235i predecessors - never found the brakes lacking on the road.
If you're not tracking the car and there's nothing apparently wrong with the brakes, then it's probably you. Do the brakes fade, or do you just not find them confidence inspiring?

just no confidence, no feel until quite a lot of pressure applied then they do stop ok. pedal feels spongy, dealer says they are ok.
had high performance japanese cars running brembos and they were fantastic no fade even on the track. i also run a VW T5 180bhp 4motion which ways 2.5 tonnes and frankly the brakes give more confidence and feel than the 240i, although the discs on the van are HUGE |
