Blower motor Recall
Recall was done about a month ago.
Am I wrong in thinking my fan/blower motor should be new? It's still squeaking and creaking when it's cold....was that not supposed to be changed out? |

When recalls are performed, the dealer will always use new parts. Are you sure the fan/blower motor is squeaking and not another component?

the motor was not a standard part replaced, looked to me like a tech would splice some new harness in. imho? splicing is unfortunate, it's a new weak point, subject to human error, unlike plugs.

Also have a high pitched/ high speed ticking sound that changes with revs...maybe alternator? Why is it that things break right after going to dealer... |

John makes a good point above. If the recall is for the wiring harness and not the motor itself it could be that the motor itself failed coincidentally after the recall was performed. Do you guys have the campaign number for this recall? |

Blower motor wiring recall was for the wiring ONLY.... not the motor.
The recall was updated to also replace the regulator. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...7V676-3259.pdf |

My blower motor totally stopped working in the dead heat of summer; I popped out the underside panel and also noticed some spotting/corrosion around the harness end. Dealership ended up replacing the entire harness (not spliced), blower resistor/regulator, and the actual blower fan at their cost per recall.
You could bring it up to your service advisor, but given it's been about a month already, you may be out of luck. "Doesn't hurt to ask"...good luck.

Mine used to squeak, then the blower stopped working entirely as well.
I was worried it had failed because of the harness, so I pushed the dealer to move up my car in the recall list (it was still flagged as parts not available). My dealer spliced in a new harness, called me to ask if I wanted to pay them $400 to replace the blower motor, and when I said no, they added a little oil to the bearing and worked it in a bit. It started squeaking again about a month later, and still does. |

My blower motor started squeaking fairly significantly after the recall was done.
I just picked up a used one from a recycler who had a 2015 X1 that only had 20k miles on it... gave $50 for it. |

There's a late F25 X3 at my yard that I've pulled a bunch of parts from...
buuut... it had an engine fire. wonder if the blower is a) good, and b) not covered with soot. |
