Got my VRSF CP and FMIC today

So just received my vrsf CP (xdrive) and (5" HD) Intercooler today and wanted to post pics since all i see are bashing posts and as far as i can tell (which i can't because i'm not an expert) everything looks a-ok. The tabs on the intercooler look a little long though like that one thread was saying, but I'll attempt to install it this weekend and take more pictures then to see if everything installs ok.

I'll just post the link to the imgur gallery instead of posting the pictures here.

Any luck getting these installed? I'm particularly interested in the FMIC's performance.

The FMIC was super easy, no problem at all, except for trying to remove the stock one, the screws were super stuck and got stripped. I used this screw extractor kit (my other one just made it worse)
https://www.lowes.com/pd/SpeedOut-8-...tor/1000170531

The charge pipe was a damn pita though. Not sure if it's cause it's xdrive auto. I spent a good couple hours trying to get it seated onto the throttle body. I used oil and force and clamps a blowtorch, finally it went on. The tmap sensor wouldn't go in with the gasket, I oiled that as well and pushed and it took some of the gasket off (it seems to be holding a seal though but i'll need to replace it and try again). Then i tried to reattach the fuel tank vent line but that wouldn't go in either and shattered and broke off (i pushed too hard). Had to reorder that for 90 bux.

So the FMIC is fine, the tabs were a little long but it still "fit"

If i can't get the new fuel tank vent line to go in, i'm going to buy a different charge pipe. I'm going to try to heat it up and lube the crap out of it and try to shove it in a little more carefully than last time.

I need to take it out on the freeway or find a long empty road to log on, but didn't really finish installing in time. I'll post when i get a chance to do so.

Edit: i tried to rig up something with the fuel tank vent line but still getting a fuel vent valve error so i just capped it off at the chargepipe for now (giving the stuck open error). It doesn't' seem to be affecting performance though as far as i can tell. New tubing will be coming on Friday.

Awesome thank you for the write up. Any way you can do some logging so we can look at IAT's?

Sure I can do that I think, after rush hour tonight (PST) i'll take it out on the freeway. I don't have the MHD monitor but i'll buy that now. It'll be my first time logging so I may f' it up. But hopefully will have something posted here tonight. I've been meaning to do it anyhow to see if i have any boost leaks from my less than perfect install.

I feel like I'm the only one who didn't have that much trouble putting on the chargepipe at the throttle body. Maybe it's because my car was warm when I did it and slid right on. Tmap was a tight fit but went on as well without issue.

Quality of the parts look way better than what I got from them a year ago. That's a great improvement to see. Tabs being a little long appear to be because it sits slightly lower than stock. I've been running with the wrong tabs a year and it hasn't been an issue. Glad they fixed it for others going forward.

It's definitely a possibility that everything was just too cold. I believe it was 35 that day outside. I may warm it up by driving it around a bit this next weekend and try to reseat it just to see.. if i'm feeling brave lol. The tmap might be just an old gasket, the car has 44k miles on it.

So i did a fast run in the little space i could with all the traffic right now. I'm not sure how to read it completely yet so feel free to point out anything that looks strange. The temperature outside is 37.

I got the fuel tank vent line today, Tip for other people, drive around get your car warmed up and then disconnect the vent lines from the other two connection points before trying to push it into the charge pipe (this is how i broke it originally by not disconnecting it). I sprayed it with a little silicone lube (probably should have used some grease) and pushed and twisted it back and forth and it went in (with some effort). I've got to do the tmap gasket later today.

Got a new datazap 3rd gear run. looks like it's down to around 1psi boost/target difference. IATs are still nice with the 5" vrsf hd. wgdc% looks a bit high though (i think i'm not sure if it's supposed to be that high on stock turbo ewg). I'm on mhd stage 2 right now.

think i found the culprit for the leak lol.

anyhow another tip from a non mechanically include DIYer. the screws (allen head) that come with the vrsf pipe for the tmap sensor suck and get stripped easily (or i just can't hold the allen key straight enough). I bought these phillip head ones to replace them and they fit perfectly and were easy to tighten.

The VRSF F-series HD N55 FMIC is probably one of the greatest values on this platform.. Its an amazing FMIC and at the price point its CRAZY good. Tiago hit a home run with this one.
