Awesome...I would like to own a dog too someday. Dogs are truly great companions. I'm waiting for someone to create a breed that doesn't poop though.

Awwww - wow - I don't normally do this but GS (purebreds especially) are just amazing dogs and I love them!
Please post pics when you get her/him! My g/f (soon to be fiancee methinks) doesn't like them But she's compromised and is willing to go with a Lab or Retriever. She likes small dogs, I like big dogs...hey, at least we both agree we like dogs more than cats! |

I currently have 3, Rosemary(9) a.k.a. Rosie and Mamma(the mom) and her 2 daughters both are 5 Lucy and Thyme. Each has very distinct personalities. Rosie is very affectionate and smiles a lot yet can get very bosy. She'll bark at you non stop until you give her a treat. Lucy cannot go anywhere w/o a ball lodged in her mouth. She has a bag of balls and she'll pull them all out and then can decide which one she wants so she tries to carry as many as she can. And Thyme is a shadow dog. You can't go anywhere w/o her following you. She absolutely loves kids too to the point where the kids get annoyed with her not leaving them alone Great dogs

Labs are cool and all, but damn everybody and there mom has one. I'm actually sick and tired when I go to someones home and they have a lab. I like when I see dogs that most people don't have.

She's adorable, congrats on the new family member! I hope she grows into a gigantic lap dog for ya.
I've always had dogs, though the only GS I've had was when I was about 5 and I think he was a mix. He was amazingly protective but very gentle and loving with the people he knew. As a teen I raised Australian cattle dogs (aka red and blue heelers) with my dad since he roped cattle and used the dogs to assist. Now I just have a pair of spoiled mini schnauzers - great house dogs since they don't shed! Someone mentioned about how labs are a dime a dozen and everyone and their mothers have them. Here's a dog for you if you want a rarity: They're called New Guinea Singing Dogs. They're not exactly domestic dogs, more like the ancestors of domestic dogs, but they act very similar to domestics and are very people friendly. Only problem is that they are major predators and smaller animals they haven't been raised around might be considered fair game. Neat critters though, and to hear them howl....eerie. Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread. Have fun with the puppy! Last edited by RVExotics; 07-23-2008 at 10:24 PM.. |
