F36 435i strut bar options
Hello,
I can't seem to find a strut bar for the 435i gran coupe that would fit over the engine with the engine cover on. Could anyone give me a summary on what are my strut bar options for this car? |

A strut bar for any of the F3x (N55) cars will fit. The KC above is a great option, Turner has aluminum and cf options. I've seen Megan Racing, Ultra Racing as well.

not really the tuner and seibon strutbar didnt fit because it for the 2015 and older.. starting 2016 they change the strut bolt into a 5 bolt configuration.

I installed the strut bar from Wiechers.
https://www.wiechers-sport.de/en/sho...rkstreben/info However the F36 is not listed, but just contact them. Wiechers is a very well known brand in Europe for those kind of mods. Don't know if they ship to the US, but just ask.

All right, it seems that KC design is the one i would go for.
But here is another question: does it make a difference, and is it worth it? Most BMWs have a strut bar integrated into the bodywork (there is a piece connecting the two struts, not sure if it is rigid though), so how much difference does this 'extra' strut bar make? |

My reply on the "Strut Bar" thread :
I fitted a strut brace to my F31 330D as the 'last' suspension mod, and I can't say I've noticed any difference. What do you want to achieve ? If you're looking for improved steering precision and control I strongly recommend having the OEM compliance bushes in the lower control arms replaced with SuperPro camber adjustable poly bushes. It's a relatively cheap mod and the improvements, including being able to achieve more negative camber, are definitely worth it. FWIW I have the Weichers unit (it came off an F31 335D) and it clears the engine cover and the underside of the bonnet (hood). Clearance between the strut brace and the engine cover is quite tight in places, and I've had to resort to self-adhesive felt pads to eliminate annoying buzzing noises from the engine bay at different engine revs.

That's interesting you didn't notice much Watsey. I've been very happy with my front bar purchase and noticed a significantly tighter feeling front end, particularly noticeable in higher speed cornering. I also noticed some improvement in steering feel (in comfort mode that is, for some reason the sport mode steering is more numb than comfort). The rear bar I got didn't have any noticeable improvement though.

FaRKle! Yeah I can't say I noticed anything significant. That said, the suspension and bushing on the front of my car was already pretty well sorted so my expectations were that the gains were always going to be into the realms of diminishing returns.
That said, with the front suspension turrets already braced back to the bulkhead (OEM) it can only be a good thing to complete the triangulation of the front suspension mountings.
