Just picked up my new to me White ‘17 540i
Picked up the car this week and I’m in love. Love the white color, looking to start the mods. Came with black fender scoops and black kidney grills. Want to add a black wing on the rear deck, any suggestions would be appreciated.
After browsing the forum for a bit I decided to disconnect the center speaker. I have the HK system and man, what an upgrade to disconnect this speaker/tweeter. The left/right imaging is night and day difference. I have a Jl Audio 12w6v2 that I will install next. Then may consider a full speaker/amp replacement with either JL or Focal. I’ve seen some posts on the Bavasound and Bimmertech upgrades but if I’m going to spend the money on an upgrade then I might as well go all the way. Would appreciate anyone’s input or suggestions. I’m also looking at potential exterior modifications in terms of body kits to get an even more sporty look out of this 540i. TIA |

Very nice. I have a 540 and love it. Thought about upgrading HK but think I'm going to wait as it's not that bad except maybe tweeters. I thought about Focal and posted that but a BMW Focal owner suggested against. Not plug and play like some others with good sounds. He suggested Eaton's. BavSound is obviously the favorite but not cheap. I understand that Earthquake SWS8 are plug/play sub replacements and sound great at a reasonable price. Might try them a some point. Good Luck. Congrats on the sweet ride. These 2017s are going for cheap as everyone is hung upon crossovers.
I have the same wheels as you and it has me worried with all the potholes. Tempted to get a set of 18s instead.

"Going for cheap" not something someone who just bought a new 2019 540i wants to hear. Doesn't really matter as I bought my car outright and usually hold then for 10 years or more.

wait... how is disconnecting center speaker an upgrade? educate me...
nice ride btw... enjoy!!! i'd suggest spacers... i'm running 15mm back and 10mm up front. |
