What can I do for louder exhaust set up?
Hey guys, I have a 2009 BMW 335I LCI E90. So far, I have the PE mod done on it, which would be the PE mod on the muffler, x pipe in place of resonator, and catless downpipes. I notice that this really doesn't have that much sound unless revving pretty high and I don't really do that during daily driving. I want to be able to at least hear it during daily driving because even with the windows down I can't hear much at all. Is there anything else I can consider doing besides deleting secondary cats? (don't think I want to do a straight muffler delete either because from what i've heard, it kind of kills the tone).

That's weird unless you are used to really loud exhaust. I only have catless DP's and muffler valve mod permanently open ("golf tee mod") with stock muffler and sounds really great, deep and sweet 6 cylinder sounds even from low rpm and you can hear me from miles away according to my friends...

That's the first i've heard of someone calling this combo quiet.
I just have flap bypassed currently and i consider it fairly loud, i can hear it windows up or down easily. Maybe your secondaries are clogged a bit? I'd gut those or have them deleted and see what that does for you. I doubt you'd need/want much more. |

if you're used to a naturally aspirated engine, any turbo engine will be quiet unless you have a open dump wastegate.

A lot of you seem to be mentioning opening the flap/valve. Are the valve and flap two different things? I have the flap open with JB4 and while I can tell it's louder than when it's closed, it doesn't even seem that significant. I was looking into the valvetronic exhaust and considering if maybe that might help my cause? Although that would make one muffler straight piped with valve controls and the other muffler still with the PE mod... wonder if it would work well.

You already have PE mod, deleting the muffler entirely wont be much different with the valvetronic and since you dont use your exhaust valve/arent looking for a quiet exhaust. Having that adjustability isnt for you.
You have primary cat deletes. How is this a question? |

when its open it bypasses the muffler so its basically same as running no muffler and you push the button again the flap closes and same as stock. |

Catless Downpipes, my car stock naturally comes with an x-pipe, PE exhaust mod, and "Valve/Flap" Bypass.
Usually drive this car in Sport and it's actually quite a good combo, for me at least. If this isn't enough for you then you might as well replace secondary cats with vibrant resonators and get a muffler delete. Louder for sure at the expense of a stronger odor with it droning a bit as well. Personally I hate extremely loud "riced" cars. Oh, removing the secondary cats will make it raspy too.
