Climate Controlled Seat Questions

We just got our X5 and it is our first BMW. We have the heated and ventilated seats. Just wondering if someone could help me understand why I can have both the heat and ventilation on at the same time. I understand that the seat is not cooled, but just a fan blowing (or pulling) air through. I just don't see the advantage to having both on at the same time.
Also, is there a way to have the seats come on when the car is started? Our Lexus remembers the last setting and turns it back on when it starts, which is very nice when remote starting. Just wondering if this is how BMW does things or if I am missing a setting somewhere. Thanks.

I like to run both heat and cool during the summer as I put the heat on my back and it offers some relief of muscle tension. This worked well on my F15 and I hope with the G05 although during this winter the heated seat has never been warm enough for me.

I've used both heat and ventilation at the same time before. For instance, shoveling snow in a snowstorm at my Mom's house, my pants got a little wet. Dried my pants off pretty quickly on my way home.
