kW coilovers options at same ride height

Have a 340i xdrive which has about 2.5 inch gap on the front and I'd like to cut that in half. I've read that the comfort levels change the lower the car is dropped for a given coil over set. My question is how would street comforts at the lower end of their adjustment range compare to say v1 or v2 at the same ride height which is closer to the higher end of their adjustment range?

If height is adjusted through the strut body ride quality remains unchanged, if height is changed through preload on the spring it usually rides worse when higher as the coil is more compressed. Struts that have height change through the strut body can also have a separate adjustment just for preload

Street comfort also has adjustable rebound dampening which unlike fixed setting struts it will give you a greater range to get your desired ride quality.

Hope i answered your question

Sort of. Guess what I'm saying is in terms of comfort am I better off getting street comforts and adjusting to the lower end of the ride height adjustment or getting v2 and keeping on the higher end of the adjustment range. Maximum Ride height is lower on the v2 so lowering of say 1.5 inches is closer to the top end of the range on v2 and bottom end of the range on street comfort.

Since v2 has dampening as well i'd say either, street comfort is what i'd choose if i had the money but otherwise i'd say both are solid. I'm not a fan of the v2 with adjusting height with preload, but i still think they're fine.

Get comfort for comfort, and v2 for performance

Makes sense. I was just thinking street comforts on the lower end would have less compression travel left than say v1 or v2 at their highest setting. The car would ride the same height but have more compression travel on the v series. And v2 has rebound adjustment like the sc. Maybe I'm looking too much into it. I'm pretty set on the sc already just hoping comfort levels are ok with a 1.5inch drop.

I think the first reply nailed it, if you adjust height with the shock body and not the preload adjustment, you shouldn’t notice a difference in ride. Also, you’d have to get a rear coil booster for the v1-v2 to only lower it by half in the rear. Their max height is pretty low.

Street comfort are fine on the track as well. They get the comfort name because at their highest they are only 10mm lower than xdrive height. The springs and valving match this. The V series are 30mm from xdrive at their highest. You can take either to the track. Someone here posted that the SC did just fine.

KW Street Comfort coilovers will be just fine on the track. More important concerns on the track: brake pads and tires.
