I just checked my VIN number on https://www.mdecoder.com

It says there is a Harman Kardon Sound System. I was under the impression that this is an option and I did not ask for Harman Kardon System. So wondering if this is standard on BMW X5s?

My config: BMW X5 2019 with M Sport Package.

Mine is 2019 BMW X5 40i with M Sport Package too. It shows Harman Kardon System. I checked my quote to make sure if the dealer added this option quietly. Does not seem so.

You may have gotten a present from BMW. Could also be a data entry error.

Keep in my we don't all reside in the same countries and BMW has a long established tradition of packaging things completely differently in different countries. In Canada, I believe HK is standard on both 40i and 50i. I would not at all be surprised that it is an option and/or part of package in US — BMW Canada tends to bundle many things together and BMW NA (US) tends to have much more a la carte.

Oh yeah that is a possibility. Because I checked on multiple forums everywhere it shows Harman Kardon System in my VIN number components. Coming from a manufacturing background myself, you do make sense. The same company may have different assembly revisions (Different child components) for the same vehicle based on country specific requirements. Is there anyone from Canada who got Harman Kardon System as a standard for 2019 BMW X5 xDrive40i with M Sport package?

I am in Canada. Don't have the car yet, but a) it is 40i M Package, b) better have the HK system! (I am sure it does :-)), and c) I did not order it explicitly (ie standard). In Canada, M package had nothing to do with it, HK is standard.

Oh yes you are from Canada. Did you get your VIN? Have you checked what it says? HK as standard will be awesome

I got mine in New Jersey. You should call your dealership and check your build. If you don't have it you may still have time to add it.

So in Canada, there's three packages

1. Essential (low tier)
2. Enhanced (medium)
3. Excellence (top tier)

When I placed my order in Toronto (a month ago), I had to get the Enhanced package in order to get comfort access and Harmon Kardon.

A side note, the standard audio system offered in Essential package is also a product of Harmon Kardon, maybe the reason why the name shows up with VIN#.

playin_harsh I think you are correct. May be the standard sound system is HK. However, if we order special HK it should be the premium sound system from HK too.

So I went back and looked for VINs 100-150 numbers behind mine. The list says
S676A HiFi Speaker System

However, mine shows
S688A HarmanKardon Surround Sound System

Are you sure you didn't order the enhanced package?

Looking at the window stickers the 50i comes standard with HK Surround Sound, the 40i its a 875 upgrade.

Not according to the build. You need to select at least the Premium Enhanced package to get the HK otherwise it shows the HiFi Sound System as standard.

What I meant was the "hifi" sound system is under Harmon Kardon Corp, hence the use of name. I'm quite sure it's not the actual "Harmon Kardon premium sound system" if you didn't select enhanced package

Yeah I am pretty sure. I did not order Harman Kardon because I think Hifi is good enough. I already have a Bose at home. However, VIN build shows

Either it is a data entry error or a "special gift" from BMW (Less likely though) :P

Yes you are right. That is what my build shows too. No idea.

I know you said you didn't order the HK system but did you choose any packages? Are you expecting to have comfort seats, laser lights, heated rear seats, etc.?
