Oil change advice?

My car says oil change is due but it only has 1900 miles, I bought it last year in June so its 1year or 8000Miles. do I really need it?

Yes, year old. My wife's car only gets 4000 miles on it a year. I change oil once a year.

yes .1 year or 8000 miles, which ever is soonest. If you don't you may cause your self warranty issues potentially at a later date should you have any issues.

interesting that your schedule is 1yr / 8000 miles. In the UK its 2 years or 19000 (best) miles which ever comes first.

Question is are we using different oils or are BMW eking out schedule times versus cost over here??

I can sense a large debate looming on this one so I'll step away!

In the uk we can buy a package for free servicing for 3 years and the sceptical side of me ponders whether they stretch that out to make the package appear cheap.

I'm not technical in such manners so will leave to others who know about oil as regards this.

If you don't have such a package in the us maybe the schedule is different as a result or perhaps it is a different type of oil that won't last as long.

Either way if the states you should change the oil I would suggest you do so for warranty purported if nothing else.

As I say others with knowledge about oil can chip in but certainly interesting if the schedules are different in different markets?

I am in the US with a 2018 530e and my official schedule is the lesser of one year or 10K miles.

Over 90% of UK G30/31 sales are to company-owned fleets, not private owners. Maintenance is all about costs, keeping the lease rate down, so long service intervals are a given. They lease them out for 3 years, then auction them off, out of warranty by then. Most cars will survive their first 3 years on minimal oil changes. What happens thereafter of course is of no interest to the fleets.
