Doug: "Famous for it's role in 'The Fast and the Furious'". Me: "What role? Those were Honda Civics!". I had to attempt a confirmative research and there it is... The shit cart I never wondered what it was. It's so unnecessarily educational, indeed!

According to a press release Doug (and other journalists) attended, Toyota decided to forego performance enhancements - and called out specific instances - to the production version of the car in deference to tuning companies. Very interesting strategy to say the least. So when the consumer decides to modify the vehicle as "encouraged" by Toyota and something goes terribly wrong, who will bear liability?

BMW sent the engine to Toyota for testing. Toyota sent them back a list of components that did not meet their standards.

Idk what it is but the way he talks is weird to me. I saw the one where he farted in someones' car and I thought youtube comments were exaggerating...they definitely were not.

I find it interesting they talk so much about it needing an inline 6, then they go and put the 8AT in it.
BMW has access to 6MT and 7DCT gearboxes and I'm surprised the drivetrain doesn't resemble an M2 or M2 Comp more.

i dont mind sharing parts with other car makers but for such a name 335hp is too low.. Supra had almost the same power more than 20 years ago.. and Toyota has money to make their own engine at least.. they re the richest car manufacturer.. and i guess Toyota is the richest cause they re not spending it to make all new car..

I thought it was a good review, certainly interesting. It does honestly feel like a parts bin BMW though. I like the car, but I just think it's too expensive for what it is. The launch edition is within 4k of the BMW M2C. Or you could get the M240i and add the LSD and have money left over.

See the Alfa Romeo 4C dot. And the general trend in the graph. BMWs tend to "punch above the line."
