BMW Garmisch - a lost Concept Car, Reborn...
For this weekend's classic car show held in Lake Como(Italy)... Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este '19... BMW has resurrected a concept car from it's past heritage.
The BMW Garmisch. This classic concept car that was designed by Marcello Gandini who worked at Bertone. The concept car debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1970. And later vanished. No one knew what happened the car. So... BMW had Bertone make a new "copy". Very cool. The car with be on display this weekend at Villa d’Este. Marcello Gandini also designed such cars as the Lamborghini Miura and Countach to name a few. Enjoy, Dackel a nice video(but in German, sorry).

I am really digging the interior a lot. Looks like a ton of attention to detail and nice quality materials. BMW could learn from that.

Pretty much because the grill part is already known.

This looks like an early, ugly prototype for the E24 6 Series. Maybe it was designed by Chris Bangle's dad?

This was my first thought when I saw the pic lol. For anyone out of the loops, the next gen 4er and m3/4 will apparently have a very different front end with very tall grilles. Here is my awful mspaint of what I mean. I'll just link my post so I don't sully this thread about an awesome concept with my atrocious rendering lol.
https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6#post24795916 The question is if BMW can make it look good with the current pedestrian safety regs. Can't make a front end like this car anymore with a front end at this kind of angle. I worry that it won't translate well to the flat/upright front ends that manufacturers are mandated to make. |

I was about to say how similar this design was to the original 6 series coupe that came after and the Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 of the mid 70,s
What is funny is how beautifully made this new concept replica is even to the point of replicating the Hella headlamps used in Audi's 100 which were widely regarded as completely useless in an otherwise beautiful car. |
