JB3 Dyno!!! W/ AFE Intake!!!

TEASER!!!!!!!!

I will be doing a Dyno of the JB3 on thursday 8/14/08 of the JB3, with the new AFE Intake....

FIRST OFF........

1) I have a e90 335i completely stock other than the JB3 and AFE intake (which i will be receiving on Wednesday).

2) My thread will be completely unbiased and impartial to the tune.

3) I will give my honest opinnion of the JB3.

4) If anyone posts in the thread starting an arguement in any relation to JB3 or V3, I will report the post.

I look forward to supplying the community with information that I know people are wanting, especially a dyno with the AFE intake on it!!!!

Get a baseline on that dyno stock first, otherwise it's pretty meaningless.

As I stated in the response to the PM you sent.
It's the only way for you to know how much you GAINED by adding the tune and intake.
And it's the amount you GAIN that matters.
Dyno numbers by themselves without a baseline could just be artificially inflated or horribly low if the dyno's software and such isn't set up properly.

You know, I hate to say it, but this dyno is not going to be acurate based on real world conditions.

Here's what I would love to see. I really hope you can do this.
Could you take some pulls with the hood closed with the stock air box?

Then take some pulls with the hood closed with the AFE.
This is the only way to see what the differences are with the AFE and without.

If you saw my thread with the JB3 with the air box lid off, this should give you the same exact results as the JB3 with AFE if you dyno with the hood open.

With the stock air box in place and the lid on, it won't matter if the hood is up or down.
There is no other way for any additional air to get into the stock air box if the lid is on it.

Now, I agree, if you put and open element air filter (like dual cones or whatever) on, you need to put the hood down to replicate the amount of air you'd get into them on the road.
But again, that's ONLY the case if you have fans powerful enough in front of the car to replicate the amount of air you'd be getting doing a WOT run in 4th gear too.
If the shop doesn't have really high speed fans, then having the hood up even with the open element filter on, wouldn't really be cheating or anything, since even then, you are probably not getting as much air into them as you would on the road, but you also wouldn't be sucking in as much hot air into them as you would with the hood down either.
So it's kind of a wash, IMHO

I LOVE, how all of you bring down my dynos before I even do it!!!!

Real class acts..........have you ever heard of RPM RACING???

Why don't you check out their website, probably more of a professional shop than you are going to Mr.5.........

Also they have a HUGE HIGH SPEED fan...........

So before you start jumping to conclusions, why don't you ask questions!!

Also, I am willing to do more dyno runs than just the JB3 and AFE air intake on, you guys are really something special thinking that your personal dynos are more important then someone who has owned many forced induction cars before.......

Just a few examples of what I have had in the past 5 years....

Example 1....e46 330i with the AA S/c kit........

Example 2.....Audi 2.0t with KO4's, running no cats with full exhaust and DP...

So before you go attacking my dynos with no information about me or the place I am going to, please just STFU!!!!!

I am drunk right now, excuse my BLUNTNESS (if thats even a word)..........

I think Mr. 5 was just making a valid, practical suggestion since he's accomplished something that is very similar to what you're claiming to be accomplished for the very first time. In order to get a wider gamut of diff conditions/mods, there are conditions that should be looked into despite tuning knowledge since the dyno shop's knowledge may not be up to date with what's already been accomplish on the forums. Don't take it so personally, it IS a forum, no one can read minds and at the same time give everyone the benefit of the doubt; I'm sure this forums been across plenty of incompetence in its past so you can't help it sometimes. +1 to the baseline. Goodluck!
