Before I bought my car I saw it in a photonic blue car, inside the showroom. It looked very white to me. My car is mineral white on the outside. When I got the car I was a little dismayed that the white didn’t seem as bright as in the showroom car. However, after two days with the car, all is forgiven. It is the whitest leather I’ve seen offered on ANY car. Most cars have a light beige as their lightest offering. It is a very nice white color. I love it! |

No. BMW Mineral white is a brighter pearl white. It has a three paint coat process. It can be a bugger to match stone chips. My last SUV was ivory tri coat and it is almost exactly like BMW’s mineral white. It’s a very rich white but can look dirty to some of not kept clean. Artic white is mega crisp white bright. It also has its issue with matching stone chips. Metallic paint is the easiest to hide chips and touch ups. Tricoat/pearl paint is a nightmare if you have to get a section repainted. I have yet to see one get flawless. The light never reflects the same on that section.
Every color has its compromises and strengths. Dark colors reflect more but can be harder to maintain. Light colors only show dark dirt like road tar but don’t reflect as much. There is no free lunch with any color. I am somewhat of a expert in auto detailing and concourse competition. When I give a class on detailing for my PCA chapter I always get asked what is the best color. My answers is that paint colors boil down to honesty of representation. Dark/black colors are more “honest” in showing their true condition and can be easier to identify what needs done. Light colors tend to be more of a pathological liar as to what is really going on with the paint surface. In buying a preowned car it’s better to find a immaculate black/dark color as that shows how the car was truly kept and loved. You can’t fake that kind of daily car car with a black car. I had Mineral on my last car and loved it - it is pretty bright (it is a perl) but don't park it beside an Alpine white one as will look no where near as bright, then it will look a bit off white.
Here is a photo comparison, you can see how the mineral a grey look next to a really white car, but it sparkles so nice in the sun where the Alpine white has no fleck. https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1237262

Can't go wrong with metallic Mineral White and it has a lot more depth than Alpine White and quite luxurious.
If getting M Sport, Alpine White will give the you the black and white "panda" look that some prefer. Here's two shots of a X7 in MW.

Mineral white is metallic and looks great. Alpine white is non metallic, looks flat, and shows swirls very easily.

This is my first white car ever and it's mineral white. All my previous cars have been jet black, carbon black or azurite black so it's a big contrast for me but I absolutely love it. I have got a few 👍🏻 from other cars I rush traffic. That has never happened before.

MW >>>>> AW
AW is flat. MW looks rich and fancy. It can be matched by a good shop and that's true for all paints.

Wow that picture really captures the pop of the pearl.
Its a great colour. I've had AW on lots of previous BMW's and MW now on the X6, its so different. It has dimensions and variations in different light. It even looks great at night under artificial light. I was really getting bored of AW as its very flat. |

In most lighting, it will just look like white from a few feet away. It is pure white enough for that. But it transforms in the sun in a really beautiful way. I suggest going to check it out on a sunny day and on a cloudy day. Loved it on our F15. That car was for my wife and I never thought I would get white for myself, but loved that color enough, I can see getting MY next X5 in MW. |

I also had it on an F15 and loved the color, we had Alpine White on the E70 before that and that is much more pure white, but Mineral white is so nice especially in the sun as it has a lot of fleck and pearl (it is a tri-coat though, sucks to touch up any chips)
