Rear diffuser removal- a tip from experience
Having just replaced my stock rear diffuser with the M Performance carbon fiber one, allow me to offer a tip for anyone contemplating doing the project themselves. On first glance, it would appear that one need only remove the four 8 mm screws and four press-button fasteners on the underside of the diffuser to get it loose. But no, there is no way to free up the diffuser this way. The entire painted piece of trim that holds the top of the diffuser and which extends along the entire width of the rear bumper must come off, and this is accomplished by removing two additional screws at the far edges of this trim piece, and then disengaging the tabs that hold it into the bumper. With the entire assembly removed, the press-tabs that hold the diffuser into the trim piece can be depressed and the diffuser comes free. This is also an excellent time to replace the exhaust tips if you are so inclined, as they are infinitely more accessible with that trim piece removed. There are scant directions showing this on the internet; I figured it out by trial and error.
I hope this saves someone out there some time and frustration.
