Attention California peoples...

A buddy of mine and I have been strongly considering moving out west to California in a year or two. For the msot part, we have been looking at the Orange County area.

Two things:

1. We are taking a trip out in July to come out and take a look around at possible areas to live. Any suggestions as to specific places to look in the Orange County area? With the down payment I would be able to have, we would certainly be able to buy a place (within limitations). But places like Newport Coast are out of question. We would like to live in a nice area, but understanding we have limitations...

2. What would be some key places to hit in the area. This is a vacation even though we will be looking at places. What are the hot spots???

Muchas gracias...

first places that came to mind for me were the mission viejo or aliso viejo area. its a little bit more south orange county. im not sure, but i think first team real estate is one of the more popular companies around here.

Ive always wanted to move out west. I stayed in VA for a good transition period for after 5 years of college. I like the DC area, but its not for me long-term. I dont have many ties here, so I am looking to go wherever. Orange County is one of the areas we have been seriously looking into.

The O.C. does appeal to me on some level, but I'm not so sure that I'd actually enjoy living down there. I have a few familiy freinds and relatives that have lived there for a LONG time.

My dream home would be in SaMo/WstWd area.

Well, the trip this summer will tell us a lot. Its still ways away, but I would like to get an idea now before I start putting the money away for closing costs and all that...

That means no more silly little mods for the E90

OC isnt that bad because your close to LA and San Diego. La is too much traffic and its wayyyyyy congested. San diego is beautiful, have you checked out SD? I think costa mesa, laguna nigel are nice areas.

I think we will come take a look at SD. Unfortunately, I dont think I want to work in the SD area. Obviosuly finding another job is the first priority.

While it would not be hard for me to find the job, I do want to be picky as to where it is. I was picky in finding my current job, and it has made all the difference.

Im not ruling SD out... Just not top on the list now...

Irvine is pretty nice...apt/condo/home prices have skyrocketed since I left there and it can be dead sometimes, but it's a nice place to live.
