BMW North America Reports 9.4 Percent Sales Increase For October 2019

COMMENTS

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – November 1, 2019… BMW sales totaled 25,440 vehicles in October 2019, an increase of 9.4 percent over the 23,262 vehicles sold in October 2018. Year-to-date, BMW sales in the U.S. are up 3.8 percent.

Through October, BMW Sports Actvity Vehicles have driven growth in the U.S. and currently account for 57% of sales. Increased availability of the U.S-built BMW X3 (+18.3% YTD) and BMW X5 (+27.6% YTD), and the addition of the BMW X7, have contributed to the positive gains.

“Since the start of 2018 we have introduced more than 40 new and refreshed models to market. We will add to this total at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month when we debut several more, ranging from the BMW M8 Gran Coupe and M2 CS, to electrified variants of two of our most important models, the BMW X3 and BMW 3 Series,” said Bernhard Kuhnt, president and CEO, BMW of North America. “This range and the diversity of our product lineup not only provides our customers with choices, but enables us to fulfill their needs and be truly customer centric.”

MINI Brand Sales
For October, MINI USA reported 2,962 vehicles sold, a decrease of 6.4 percent from the 3,166 in the same month a year ago.

BMW Pre-Owned Vehicles
BMW Certified Pre-Owned sold 10,185 vehicles, an increase of 12.3 percent from October 2018.

Total BMW Pre-Owned sold 22,033 vehicles, an increase of 18.3 percent from October 2018.

MINI Pre-Owned Vehicles
MINI Certified Pre-Owned sold 877 vehicles, a decrease of 10.8 percent from October 2018.

Total MINI Pre-Owned sold 2,154 vehicles, a decrease of 6.5 percent from October 2018.

YTD more X7's than X1's. Love it, that's where the brand stands. Would love to know the avg. age of MB v. BMW buyer - 7 series vs S Class. & GLS v. X7.

I’m not surprised. The dealership I work at broke a record for new cars in October (beat our old record by 7 cars).

Some of you are saying these are good figures? These are not good figures at all. The economy is doing very well at this moment. If it wasn't for the X5, and new 8 series there would not be an increase this month in new car sales at all.

Even the 5 series is not selling as well as last year with 892 less vehicles sold this year compared to last year. And the X2 is doing terribly with almost 50% drop in sales.

To the guy that said the 7 series is selling well with its big grill, let's put things in perspective. With up to $20k off MSRP that dealers are giving customers, an increase of only 52 vehicles is very low, when they are practically giving this car away. That should tell you that people don't want the new 7 with its larger than life grill.

Don't mean to be that guy but this month is not a good month for BMWNA.

LOL it's like you haven't paid a lick of attention to the industry. Toyota, Honda, Nissan are down double digits in September as the industry is starting to collapse.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...o-sales-update

Subaru's streak of 93 straight months of increased sales finally ended.

https://www.autonews.com/sales/subar...ends-93-months

You are right about one thing. They are not good numbers. They are great numbers.

5 Series Touring or 3 Series Touring would help the passenger cars' sales.
But not the stupid 6 GT!
The X7 sales are really impressive on the other hand 😏

You need to look at YTD for 2018 vs. 2019. In the case of the 7 Series, for example, BMW has sold nearly 1000 more cars YTD. That's impressive by anybody's standards.

....and the X5 is absolutely killing it.

I like the new redesigned 7 series (big grill and all). In the right color (darker shades), it is killer.

I know it is one data point, but the sales uptick on the 7 is promising. Thinking of making it my next car.

The downturn in sales of the 3 and 5 are due to the industry shift away from sedans. Look at sales of the X3 and X5 if you want to know where those buyers are going.

Both X5 and X7 target a growing market with segment leading design. Well done.

Kinda like how Porsche's Cayenne saves their sales figures (...despite initially being seen as abhorrent), or how Ford's truck and SUV sales save their sales figures?
