Thin paint edges on alpine white

Unfortunately I didn't notice this when picking the car up. Started a case with BMW to get the areas repainted. Thought I would see if anyone else noticed extremely thin paint around edges of bumpers and rockers where you can see primer/plastic. I actually have an area as well where the paint peeled off.

No, just bought it.

Appears to be an issue with spray process on the bumpers.

I was out of town during the first week we had it then it went to get PPF installed. I hadn't washed it yet and gone over it to notice.

I'm asking for a repaint on the rear bumper, reimburse for the PPF behind the tires that will need to be redone, and an extended warranty on paint for the bumpers and rockers.

Front is fully covered in PPF so it's not worth removing, but if I go to have it redone down the road I want the extended paint warranty if the paint peels off with the PPF. Seeing how it came off that spot I'm concerned of adhesion to the plastic.

Not an out of this world request so hopefully it won't be an argument.

I wish you luck with your request. Be prepared for BMW to reject reimbursement for PPF rework. Also a rejection to extend paint warranty to address finish damage resulting from PPF removal. These are aftermarket products added to car at your discretion. In other words, not their problem.

FYI, if they do approve refinishing your plastic parts, work done at a BMW approved body shop has a lifetime warranty on paint finish. What the exclusions are I don't know, ask about it.

*ssh* it’s proprietary ///M performance paint job to save weight.

Seriously, that sucks and hope they make it right. I’m going to be peering under any X3M I’m considering at the dealer from now on. Going to check it out this week while at the dealer for an oil change.
