Picked up on 23rd

Hi all picked up my X3MC on 23rd and decided to post my thoughts once I have driven a few miles. Mine is sapphire black with black interior. Carbon pack, comfort pack, adv drive, moon roof, wireless, gesture, Apple, park, heat f&r, and probably more.

I test drove one for a week a few months back and I must admit I was impressed and that’s why I got one! . Now back in mine I must say it has delivered even more than I remembered. I have come from a g30 xdrive 530d msport and that was an incredible car and brilliant in munching miles with unlimited torque power. And I was very reluctant in selling it. My new X3MC is a totally different beast.

First let’s cover the ride quality. Yes it’s firm but if you are on a smooth road you will not know. Yes you can feel the firm harsh ride when your on a typical pot hole covered uneven road bombing on in full M power which will shake you a little bit but no where enough to warrant putting a full mattress on your head. Remember this is a M car that has to control nearly 2 tons of mass around corners and it does this exceptionally well! I am also shocked on how well it handles being a SUV. My old car did not handle as well and it was a lot lighter. Brownie points there for BMW.

The cabin quality is very good but slightly disappointed on the cheap plastics around the hazard lights and collision warning button, also door bins should be in leather for a 82k car. Why don’t we have gas struts under the extra storage under the boot for easier lift ? I’m sure these are standard in the USA. I must also get use to the mileage range if being no more than 300+ because my last car had a range of 700 miles!

Now waiting for first run in service out of way so I can really give it some! like I experienced in the test car. It’s very addictive. On the topic of exhaust sound I will be honest I am happy with it. It’s enough sound for what I need it for I’m not for one who needs to have pops and crackles and I like to keep my neighbours happy

I have added just a few pics I will add more once the weather clears up. Overall I am a happy owner of a car that balances power and practically, technology and quality that few cars can match.

Good summary, as you say the ride issues as per JA just aren't really there (well not on my test drive anyway) the standout issue for me was the cabin's quality it's not great once you look past the seats it should have had full leather, you can see the cracks (metaphorical ones) and the base cars price point starts to show itself, but apart from that it's a great package.

Thanks for the run down. Agree on all points. The gas struts were actually nice and standard on the M40i. I cannot understand why they omitted them with the M. I'm sure there was some good reason, maybe due to the additional rear bolstering, I dunno. But I do miss that gas strut on the rare occasion I need to access my mobility package storage area.

Thanks all for the comments. Did I see some pics on here where the full tank said 400 miles or am I dreaming?

These look great in black.

I'm 650 miles in now, trying to get the run in out the way!
