Software update

Finally got passed 1k so rang dealer to book RIS and asked about software update he said nothing showing for car on system which suprises me collected car on the 15th november so i was sure it would need the update
Well booked for tuesday so will have a chat then just wondered if anyone else who collected around that time havnt had it done

I'm in the US, but I just had my RIS done on Monday, and there was no software update for me. I asked about it, and my SA said nothing was showing for it.

When I check my VIN online, it doesn't show any pending updates against it. What's this software update for and what production range does it affect?

I picked my car up on 29th of November and went on on Monday for the RIS

I did get the update.

The description around the software update on my invoice is below.

‘Carried out BMW quality enhancement 0012140500
Programming control units (DME)’

Hmm... I don't recall seeing anyone in the US get this update yet (I could be wrong). Has anyone else seen a US spec get the update? I've seen several folks mention it for EU.

I have a Canadian spec X4MC. Build date of Oct 10, 2019. The car shipped with S15A-19-07-553. Took delivery on Nov 2nd.

Break in service was done Dec 10, 2019
Car was updated to S15A-19-11-540.

i have an appointment booked for next friday for the software update. i took my car in late december for the RIS, and my service advisor told me to make another appointment (with loaner) for an all day software update. he gave no other details

No software update for me either and my car was mid Nov

I collected mine late November, got the update at my RIS late December. It took a long while to complete, car was only just ready before they closed for evening.

had been added to the list. They said no, but it should have been and added.

Do you guys know the max and min ranges tolerances for break-in mileage?

I reckon i will be kissing 1100 by then max.

i got my RIS with a little over 1k on the odometer.

someone previously mentioned on another thread that if you are +/- 200 miles of 1,200 they usually will do the RIS for you

when I booked mine in for Tuesday said it was just over 1000k and they said that was fine I will be over 1100 by Tuesday so you should be ok too

I called into my dealer on Saturday 18th Jan (last Saturday) I asked them to check for the software update and was told its not due one. I collected mine on November 23rd. The BMW system said no updates were due on my car.

I'll guess that it all depends on when your car was built some of the UK cars had been hanging around a while and perhaps the US ones as well as they didn't exactly burst out of the blocks sales wise. So there will have been a mixture of build dates in cars purchased at the same time and perhaps that's the cause of the difference.

We know that the stop sale happened in mid Dec mine was a Nov built car and needed the update at the RIS it missed the stop sale by a day.

Mine was built in July! Sold end of dec. to be fair it had a failed finance application.

I had the update and it took them a good few goes and failures before it was done.

Prob for me having a July build is that the services are aligned with that (miles are low) bit of a PITA

Folks you need to provide the current software version you are on and what you got upgraded to if you were upgraded. This thread is pointless without it.
