Anyone know of a company making them yet for X3M Comp?

The intake is basically that big box on top of the engine. I don't think there's much to optimize there outside of the piping into it.

Technically it should be easy if you don't take a consideration on the engine cover / air box.

My bet, in order to do it, they will need to keep the engine cover / air box in tact, just remove the filters from inside.

For the argument of academics someone correct me if I am wrong but the engine cover keeps getting brought up, yes that’s where the air box is but the engine cover itself provides what value exactly? Esthetics? Is there any actual functional value to an ‘engine cover’?

IMO, Some wouldn't be willing to run without that engine cover.

My guess is it will be beautiful, full carbon, just like the E92 intake plenum and ridiculously expensive since it will be a full replacement of the entire engine cover and associated filters. But I still would be more likely to buy than a non-functional carbon cover that’s purely a dress up part.

In this case the engine cover and the air box is one and the same. It's not an air box underneath the cover, but the cover itself contains the air box inside. On all other cars the engine cover is just for looks and maybe to reduce noise.

The prototype is being finished and should see some testing on it soon.

Can't wait to hear it, though to be fair I don't think I'd ever buy from them. Max I'd spend on on intake is probably 800.
