E92 328 shifter recall

I just took in my E92 328 for service (on board computer requested it) and my SA told me there is a recall on the shifter so I need to come back and leave it for the day. He couldn't give me any additional detail. The invoice states:
SIB #25-01-07 LBL 482 REPL GEARSHIFT LEV
CUSTOMER WILL RESCHEDULE FOR RECALL

I'm guessing it is something new, because I have not received any communication from BMWNA. Does anybody have more details on this?

he wants you to leave the vehicle for the day?!?!

Its a campaign in which your gear shift knob gets replaced, it shouldnt take any more than 3 minutes to do.

Thank you for the explanation. The funny thing is I already replaced the stock knob with the OEM leather wrapped knob. Little chance the chrome coating will peel.

dont bring it in then, if they get a nimrod working on it, he'll probably replace your shift knob with the updated stock knob

That only happens when the knob breaks inside and doesn't hold the shaft anymore.
