Ryan Newman Daytona 500
That was brutal, hope he’s ok..... never good when the sheets come out, considering where the other car hit him it could potentially have been an instant fatal blow 😕.

First and foremost I absolutely hope he is OK.
But this to me is exactly why NASCAR has become such a joke. The Daytona 500 is their premier event and multiple crashes make it so that only a small number of drivers finish the event and it encourages BS that leads to incidents like this.

Glad to read this. I’ve been looking for an update but not much reported. The last ~20 or so laps was marred with crashes. Drivers pushing too much and making ridiculous moves. But that’s part of “plate” / restrictor type racing. With fuel injection not sure they incorporate restrictor plates?

For the superspeedways they need to start removing downforce, make it hard to be nose to tail bumpdrafting in a huge pack, if you watch older races they naturally spread out, handling was a much bigger factor and it naturally slowed the cars down.
