What's your Potenza S001 tire experience

Hey All,

I've been trying to sniff out a deal locally on some Michelin PS4 tires to replace the aging OEM alenzas without sacrificing my first born.

In my search I found a local shop who's having a deal on Bridgestone Potenza S001L RFT. I've not been able to track down much info on them and the sparse reviews I've seen are generic and swing both ways.

Does anyone have any experience with this rubber? At 350 cad per wheel I'm tempted but would rather spring for the PS4 if they're a miss.

Garage List
Historically, I have always liked the Bridgestone Potenza line. S001L looks fairly new. I like the tread pattern. With a treadwear rating of 280, I wouldn't expect them to last long - but should be sticky and perform well.

Personally; I will try to avoid RFT - esp on the 21's. I carry a can of fix-o-flat in my car which generally gets me to a tire repair center. I haven't changed a tire in almost 30 years. Worst case, I'll call road side assistance.

My 2c.

You get some alternatives if you bump width front and rear by 10mm (255 front/ 285 rear), which isn't too $$ is new Continental Contisportcontact 5 Contiseal:

They're absolute shit. I had them in my X1. Wears insanely fast, not very grippy, really loud when it starts to wear.

Don't do it, they are utter garbage!

I have recently replaced my fronts (S001) on my 4 series with Bridgestone Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 and they are far better in every respect.

You’re obviously thinking of a different tyre, the S001 wear insanely slowly! I wanted them to wear out so I had an excuse to change them but they just kept on going and going!

Had them as OEM summer runflats on my X1 and I still stand by that they're terrible tires. I had the S001 not the S001L the op posted so that part is incorrect.

They are terrible tyres, but extremely hard wearing so I think you must've had a faulty set.
