Recently purchased a 2020 X3 M40i, best car I've ever driven! I already have about 5,500 miles on the car. The car and connected app says not needed til around 10,000 miles. Should I do a change anyway or just wait for the 10,000 mile mark?
Also a side question, rarely when I gas up the car it will have a rough idle (As in the car shakes) for a minute or so, then it goes away. I've noticed it only happen when I'm filling up from around 1/4 tank or lower. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I usually gas up with Shell 93. Although one time early on I used a no name gas. Thanks for reading and glad to be part of the BMW community!!!!! |

Congratulations on the new car. I changed the oil on my 2018 at 3000 miles. It's really easy. I planned to keep the car for a long time. As it turns out, I will be returning it back to BMW in the next week or so for a manufacture buyback. I never had an issue with the car running rough after filling.

Subject discussed at length recently. Car will tell you when to change oil. 10K or 1 year. You can change it as often you like though. I don't own any car that I change sooner than every 5,000 - 7,000 miles. Plenty of research shows modern lubricants dont require shorter intervals and modern vehicles are fine with them. It's your $ though.
