Most overused word

I would go with "Perspective".

It's used constantly without adding value. For example, a doctor is being interviewed and says "From a medical perspective...". Does he need to say that? Just answer the question.

#2 is "Leadership".

"Literally" took the crown from "basically".
In the news today it's "exponentially".

Curate

Curate. Curate used to be a classy word reserved for museums, etc. I think that Apple is the most guilty abuser. They’ve curated everything from music to most likely the jellybeans in the break rooms. “And Sage has curated an exclusive collection of all pink jellybeans for your oral pleasure in break room C.”

I get tired of "Essential" - It seems every ad now days is trying to work that in telling everyone how they are an "essential" business.

Yes - we get it. You sell string cheese, so of course you are deemed "essential" by the government. Move on.

"Event"

Adding the word event to everything to make it sound more important.

Wind event
Rain event
Snow event
Colon blowing event, etc....

Anything "-wise." It seems you can add it to the end of any noun, and you suddenly have this all encompassing "word."

"Everything has been going pretty well health-wise."

"amid"

When news can't explain the reasons, it's always amid. "Dow Jones is up amid /insert random happening/".

I don't know if this is over used but it drives me around the twist when the news reporter say "this is "your" weekend forecast or traffic etc". It isn't my forecast or your forecast, it's the forecast.

That and when every "event' needs to have an adjective to make it seem better. I find it quite annoying to here a storm called "vicious"....vicious implies intent....I don't believe the storm can form intent, it's just a storm.

The other thing that drives me crazy is when people use the word "awesome" to describe any and everything. Your little darling eating their broccoli isn't awesome, the Grand Canyon is Awesome. If we call every god damned thing awesome, then what do we call something that is actually awesome?

end of rant.....for now.

"KnowwhatI'msayin'. No, it is not a single word, but often used as one word repeatedly in a short conversation.
