Upgraded to f10 m5 calipers
Hey guys I just installed the f10 m5 6 piston calipers and f80 m3 rear 2 piston calipers on my car and the car doesn't brake anymore. I have 2013 base 328i xdrive n26. Like I was saying the brake pedal loses all pressure and the car will barely stop. I did some research and saw that I would have to code the car for the new brakes. What program do I need to do that ?? Definitely appreciate any help I can get
Edit: The problem was resolved after installing the f80 m3 Master Cylinder, i'm pretty sure you can use the 335/340 master cylinder as well. I would also like to thank everyone for their help and contribution to figuring this out. Last edited by Kel918; 04-24-2020 at 06:38 AM.. |

coding AFAIK only affects the front to rear bias.
Are you sure they are bled correctly? Could you of got air into the mastercyclinder- did it run dry at any time ? |

The were bled by the shop after installing them, I'm pretty sure they didn't run dry or air got into the master cylinder. I read in a thread that the brakes have to be coded. it's a base 328 so I was thinking coding to m performance brakes might help

The bleed nipples were defintely pointed up, I was watching everything. The only reason I took it to the shop was because I had to get the m5 rotors bored out to fit the front properly.

when change my 6 pot brake in front and brembo 2 piston rear i didnt code and the car still brake normal.i think you need to upgrade your master cylinder depend on which brake you were coming from.. that was my main concern when i upgrade to the m5 caliper ..

The shop said the same thing, that I went from having a total of 6 pistons to 16 now on the car, and that the brake master cylinder can't produce enough pressure. If that's the case should I just upgrade to an m3 brake master cylinder ??

You have to pump the brakes a lot to build pressure and it will stop, but if you leave it alone for like 10 seconds it wont have any pressure to stop again

You have a master cylinder issue.
Nearly all cars optioned with the blue brakes from factory have the same MC as the F8x, meaning you won’t have an issue when these brakes are fitted. I was the first to do this, and researched it heavily before having the work undertaken to get the brackets done. If your car came with base brakes (single piston sliding) then you’ll no doubt need to upgrade the MC. It does sound like you may also have air the the system, was it bled using INPA to cycle the modules? |

I have the base (single sliding piston), it was not bled with Inpa to cycle the modules. What software can I buy to code the brakes and cycle the modules ??

These 6 pot brakes are not OEM fit for F3x cars, so coding is not an option. If you have air in the master cylinder or DTS / DTC module, the software can / will cycle the modules to dislodge air. I do not have the technicals on this, since I paid a shop to do this for me. |

I’m putting my money on your MC being insufficient though for the larger piston area. These 6 pots have a very similar overall piston size vs the OEM 4 pot Brembos for F3x, so the correct MC handles them perfectly. |

It’s a mechanical issue with not having enough power in the MC |
