For people with custom tunes: Which tuner?

Trying to decide which tuner to go with later this summer & I'd like to hear some feedback. I've heard of Wedge, Pure Evil Tuning and Twisted Tuning. Are any better than the other?

What kind of performance gains are you guy seeing with a full-on custom tune vs. a canned MHD tune? Decent gains, or just a few HP?

They are all human, they all make mistakes.
They are all tuners, they can all make same changes to AFR, scalars, trims, fueling, lambda targets, etc.
If people want highest h.p., any tuner can go leaner, more timing, etc to get you there.
Would it be safer ? Most likely not. Can you brag about more power than the next guy ? Definitely. Worth it ? Highly doubtful.
Tuners usually ask what your goals are. If you tell them 100% safe, you will get a very similar tune from any of them.
Hardware and fueling determines a LOT of how much power can be squeezed out safely.....regardless of tuner.
All above mentioned SHOULD know when limits are being pushed too hard for given hardware, fueling, etc.

Damn Drew, what are your mods? Stockers? Inlets?

I want a custom tune bad on my FBO but want at least inlets before I take the plunge.

If you have MHD, i would use Wedge since they have a hand in the development of MHD.

Car is stock except for stage 1 fuel pump and psp intercooler. My tuner said he will update my tune whenever I do more, so no reason to wait until it's 'done'. At least for me.

Just curious what numbers are you guys getting with a custom tune vs ots with fbo inlets?
Would 460-470 be a reasonable safe goal running e60?

custom tune is not all about HP , its about making a right tune for your car, no 2 cars are exactly the same even if they have the same mods. He fine tunes the map to your engines liking. MHD V5 E40 tune probably makes more hp than some custom e40 tunes, but that doesnt mean its as good for your car as the custom one.

Thanks for the input! I’m probably going to go with Wedge because I have a custom trans tune from Sutphin and he and ken often collab on custom tunes. I’m Looking to make around 420 whp on E30

That's already understood but does not answer my question. Given that OTS maps don't take full advantage of inlets I'd expect to notice some gains with a custom tune. I was asking what numbers people are actually seeing. I'd imagine given my mods I'm around 400-420whp and curious if there's noticeable gains(will get a custom tune regardless)

I made 430hp on a dynojet with FBO + inlets/outlets/E30 gas on OTS MHD. With custom tune you should make 430+ easily.

Edit: I also have upgraded Turbo Lab turbos, probably stage 1 you would say

i made 441whp/535wtq on a custom e40 tune with downpipes and intercooler.

now with e50 and inlets and couple extra degrees of timing the car picked up 0.5 sec in the 1/4 mile and 5 mph. Havent dynoed it yet but im sure its around 475-485 whp with 550 wtq.

Hope that answers your question.

Damn....picking up .5 sec in the 1/4 is a good 100hp gain......you gained that from just an aftermarket tune??
