Sport mode and paddles don't work after turbo install (wiring under gear selector loo

I have an N54 335i. Took my car to a shop to replace my turbos. When I got my car back it had a few issues being misfiring cylinders, leaking coolant, and also my sport mode and paddles not working.
Took the car back and everything seems to be fixed besides my the sport mode and paddles. They don't know what is wrong with it and just seem to tell me that it could be that they just went out. But I don't think it's a coincidence that I never had a problem with it before taking my car to that shop and getting my turbos replaced
I did research on the forums and tried the method myself of checking the wires under my gear selector but they seem to be pretty pristine. Couldn't find any broken wire to fix, so as of now I just rewrapped them and put everything back together.

Is there anything that could lead to them going out after installing issues? A sensor unplugged, coding issue if they accidentally did that, or?
I'm kinda at a loss because I don't know what the next step is.
To put my problem word for word. PRDNL lights are lit without any issues. When I shift my lever from D to DS nothing happens and it stays in drive. I can shift up and down with the selector but after a bit it goes back to D even though I'm in DS. And the paddles on the steering wheel don't work one bit.

If anyone can help or give an idea it would be appreciated.

maybe the shifter itself went bad. happened to me, wires were good, just replaced the shift knob and it was working again.

Even if they don't appear to be broken the wire inside could still be split in half. Could try to check continuity of each wire from shifter to the connector
