How much drone with Fabspeed exhaust?

From all the audio clips I've listened to, I like the sound of the Fabspeed muffler bypass best. But, I keep reading that it causes drone. Just how bad is the drone? Can you still talk to your passenger or on the phone when the drone is present?

also, if you're going to do a muffler delete, VRSF has one for half the cost of fabspeed, and a muffler shop can do it for less than half to price of that.. if you're spending $900, I would be looking at some of the axle or catback options because yiu're almost there @ the $900 fabspeed price tag.. if you like loud, reasonably priced, and little drone, look @ the Borla ATAK.. it has a multicore resonator that's job is to reduce drone, so their marketing video says at least.

Yes, the muffler delete. I have not heard one in person...

Yes you can still carry a conversation as long as you do not get a catless downpipe

No plans on replacing my high flow catted downpipe.

How loud are these cars without a muffler? I don't want to piss off neighbors too much.

Its going to be loud, and removing the muffler is going to make the sound unrefined. Are you planning to keep stock midpipe/resonator?

I can guarantee you can find videos of catted DP + muffler delete, both with and without resonator. Yes comparing videos is not ideal because of different mic/sound quality, but it gives you an idea.

Another way to think about it is the muffler delete is going to be louder, more drone-y, and less refined of a sound than the equivalent DP+resonator setup with any exhaust, including some of the loud aftermarket ones.

And i would also echo what is said above that the fabspeed muffler delete is super overpriced for just a small section of straight pipes.

Yes I plan on keeping the stock midpipe and resonator.

I found this video and it doesn't seem ridiculously loud.

I've had more than one Camaro with high flow cats, resonator, and strait pipes. Here is my last one on a dyno.

Even that car wasn't extremely loud when just cruising. I know it's not the same as my 335i, but again, I have never heard this car in person without mufflers.

I wouldn't have a problem buying a catback exhaust, but I have often heard they typical drone in these cars anyway.

That video does not sound very loud at all. I would wager its stock DP (there is a comment about him running the sport cat, but i doubt its in that video, because its so muted and there is no turbo noise). Again mic is a huge factor in video/audio.

A aftermarket catted DP will be louder than OEM DP, but having any kind of cat in place and keeping the resonator will help a little. Its not going to be as loud/raspy as catless with resonator delete (full straight pipe), so it might be liveable.

I guess I could always just cut off the muffler and see what it sounds like.

True, because this is what you have to do to install it anyways. Just make sure you cut it at the right spot, and that the exhaust exit is not in a dangerous position like pointing at gas tank or something.

the drone is alot with a muffler delete

Playing music or something will distract you from the drone but it will always be there if you focus on it

If you already have a catted downpipe and stock midpipe, the best sounding axle-back is the AWE.

Below is an installation video. (He subsequently went back to the stock midpipe because the AWE midpipe was too loud for his neighbors
