Wheel Questions
Thinking about getting new wheels. Anyone know if there are any issues going 10” wide in the front? It’s only 0.5” wide than stock.
These are the two wheels I’m thinking about getting: https://vossenwheels.com/wheel/hf-3/ https://avantgardewheels.com/avant-g...20-r/#thewheel I know my previous car had clearance issues around the caliper. Do our cars have the same issue? Anyone know if the above wheels will have issues clearing the caliper? |

You shouldn’t have a problem with only a 1/2 inch increase in wheel size. However, especially with Vossen you can have customized offsets and if you push the wheels out more you can bring them closer to the fenders for an improved look, or add wheel spacers for the same effect.

However, now that I have lowering springs there is a bit more negative camber so I could go with some more spacing. You will have to decide if you plan to lower the car for the perfect offset or plan to buy wheel spacers in the future. I’m about to remove my spacers for custom wheels so if you are interested let me know. Also consider if you are going with the 10 inch wheel up front on the same size tire you will have slightly less overall width. And depending on if your M50i has the Perelli or Continental tires, the Continentals are fatter on the rims. |

So I was quoted a good price: $3k for the following sizes in gloss black, delivered.
22x10.5 et38 front 22x12 et36 rear Can anyone tell me how far out these would stick? The I actually do not like the look where the wheels stick out. I prefer the OEM look where it’s slightly tucked or flush. |

Wheels will pop out 11.7/26 mm F/R. It will also extend inside 13.7/12 mm F/R. I've been watching users' 22 offsets here and that setup would be the most aggressive at both outside pop (26 mm rear) and inside (~14 mm front, 12 mm rear).

An even offset would be to add between 12-15mm front and 15-20mm rear depending on how much negative camber you have. |

If you’re curious about offsets and how many mm produces what results, the dealer I’m working with was nice enough to share a Vossen example on our vehicle with the following offsets from OEM. However, what he stated as the difference versus OEM and the actual build didn’t add up, so I’m just quoting him. I’m going 10mm out from OEM.

Well, dark or black wheels always photographs poorly; they tend to look a lot better in person.
Also, I like gloss black wheels. Just something about them that strikes a chord with me (I had them on my S7). However, after looking at a lot of different black wheels, one thing I’ve noticed is that black wheels look a lot better with more and larger spokes. Having black wheels with few or fewer and thinner spokes (like the HF-5) just makes the void look too large. Also, yeah, he did the math wrong. I think the correct offset is the one he quoted with the actual build, which is 15mm front (or et22) and 25mm rear (or et18) from stock. That rear is sticking out a lot and it’s easily almost an inch more than OEM. Finally, it does look lowered. Assuming it has air suspension, they could have just placed the vehicle in cargo mode to take the picture. |
